How to Prevent Stretch Mark During Pregnancy

Hi everyone, hope you are having a wonderful day!

I wanted to share with you my experience and some tips to help with stretch marks if you are pregnant.

As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I did some research and tried to find the best methods to prevent or even just reduce stretch marks. What I found in my research was that there was no definite way you can prevent it and that it can vary from person to person because some people are just more prone to stretch marks and you really can't prevent it. So I don't want you to get discouraged if what I did doesn't work out for you because you are creating a beautiful life inside you and you should show off you stretch marks proudly.

Here is what I did....

I BATHED IN LOTION, LITERALLY!

$13 (Target)

I started using the Burt's Bee Mama Bee every day morning and night on my belly. Also, I used regular Aveeno lotion on my arms, legs and of course you cant forget your breasts since that will be growing too. I really liked the Burt's Bee lotion for my belly because it went on smooth and it didn't feel too sticky after. For me that is the worst feeling after putting on lotion is the stickiness, absolutely hate it.

$8 (Target)

For your belly, when you put on the lotion make sure you put a generous amount and rub your belly for about 5-10 minutes to let the lotion really sink into your skin. Now I will tell you for someone that never lotioned before pregnancy this was the most tedious part of my day. I would come home from work feeling tired and just wanting to go to sleep but NOPE gotta lotion that belly if you don't want stretch marks. If you are like me, I know how you are feeling. You are not alone but make sure that you do it anyway.

$25 (Bump Box)

Then once my Burt's Bee Mama Bee lotion ran out, I was going to get another one but I received the Glow Organic Belly Butter in my bump box subscription so I decided to give it a go. At that time I was in my second trimester and my belly was growing and I really need more heavy duty lotion to keep up with me and this Belly Butter was perfect. I really like the thickness of it but I wasn't really a big fan of the stickiness. However, I definitely would recommend this one if you are ok with feeling sticky because I do feel like this one was a better quality and since it was thicker you will use less of it which means it will last longer. I paid $40 for the subscription and a got lots of fun full-size items in the box including the Belly Butter, If you want to buy this Belly Butter on its own, I found it on Amazon for $25. To be honest for me, it is a little bit expensive for lotion but if you don't mind the price definitely give it a try.

For my third Trimester, I still continued to use the Belly Butter but I did find myself getting lazy and skipping days. I really wanted to not skip a single day but that was not a realistic goal. I truly do feel that once I started skipping multiple days or ever a week I started seeing stretch marks appear if you can try to stay as consistent as possible, that's what I would recommend even if that means slapping on the lotion while you are in bed then do it.
Trust me, you will thank me later 😉.

Comment below if you have any recommendation for a good belly lotion, I would love to hear about your experience.
